ELCHIM’S FAIL PROOF METHOD FOR USING A DIFFUSER

Those who have been there understand the struggle of creating well-developed curls using a traditional hair dryer. The air force from the dryer alone can disturb natural curl patterns, creating clumps of unmanageable locks.

Enter the circular diffuser. Designed to reduce the air velocity from your hair dryer, diffusers create the illusion of having thick, full hair while speeding dry time and reducing frizz in curls and waves. To get the most out of your effort, it’s necessary to have quality tools such as the Elchim Cocoon Diffuser – a two-in-one professional tool that sets fantastic hair volume without breaking hair – and to understand the correct technique to achieve lasting, full styles.

STEP 1: PREP HAIR

Using your regular shampoo and conditioning products, clean hair thoroughly, running a wide-tooth comb through locks during the conditioning phase. Squeeze hair dry using a soft towel or clean t-shirt. Be careful not to rub hair, as this will create additional frizz.

STEP 2: APPLY STYLING PRODUCTS

Apply a generous amount of quality anti-frizz serum or leave-in conditioner to hair before using the Elchim Cocoon Diffuser.

STEP 3: SELECT THE APPROPRIATE HEAT SETTING

Select the heat setting that’s appropriate for your – or your client’s – type of hair, and attach the Elchim Cocoon Diffuser to your Elchim blow dryer of choice. We do recommend using the lowest heat setting possible to encourage sleek, shiny curls and waves.

STEP 4: PLACE HAIR IN DIFFUSER

Start by hanging your head sideways or upside down. Next, select a large portion of hair, twist the strand around your finger, then lay hair gently inside the circular Elchim Cocoon Diffuser. Those with wavy or curly hair will get precise, well-structured curls, while those with straight hair will enjoy loose waves.

STEP 5: MOVE DIFFUSER

As hair begins to dry, move the diffuser towards the scalp to dry the hair roots thoroughly. Leave the diffuser in place (without touching the hair!) until the section is at least 80% dry before moving on to the next section.

STEP 6: SCRUNCH, SHAKE, FLUFF

Once all sections of hair have dried, spray tendrils with a setting formula then shake hair to loosen waves and create body. Fluff the roots gently with finger tips to add volume to the top, but be careful not to touch curls too much, as this separates hair and introduces frizz.

You can find the Elchim Cocoon Diffuser at fine salons and salon retailers nationwide for $25.00
